Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Midland.

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Midland Photography Group on Facebook to share your photos after the session.

The Petroleum Building is probably one of my favorites in the Permian basin. I've always gravitated towards this building and have an winter series on it on my Facebook account. I love any old large building, even more so when the light hits it just right.

This is an older building that reminds of peak 60s oilfield here in the basin. I like driving around Odessa an otherwise unassuming town and take shots of the old building that are still standing the test of time. This one Ive passed many times and didn't think much of it until we here driving around wasting a roll of film waiting on a bakery shoot, it was a gloomy day and kind of chilly. It just looked right thru the lens. I shot this on a Mintola SRT 101 with a 28mm lens! The film is Phoenix

This is a Catteleya hybrid I bought from Akatsuka Orchids in Volcano Hawaii. It wasn't developing a flower spike on this lead until after I repotted it into a clay pebble medium with a little coconut fiber, which I believe will be superior to either barky mix or Sphagnum. The flowers have a life span of 3 weeks and it is just about 5 days past that as you can see the dorsal sepal is turning brown. This was Sunday and I just got in my Sigma 56mm f/1.4 lens the day before after I sold my Sony 50mm

Since I bought my first SLR in 1974 which was the all manual Richol under the Sears label I still like try new things Photography because of the bug I cought from an elderly photographer with a Deardorff front swing 8x10 view camera I met in 1969. I haven't had the Sony a6400 long but it is awesome compared even to the Olympus OM-2 that came out in 1975. It was a very windy day after a storm and I tried my favorite lens the Sony 50mm f1.8 with a 16mm extension tube and handheld a series of capt

I am using a street photographer approach to take a quick capture of a scene unobtrusively and with the shallow depth of field I can the point of interest on the Sony a6400 by touching the screen and along with my postprocessing approach I hope to achieve a semi abstract effect, like here, where I have indistinguishable pedestrians to mark space and scale, reminiscent of an architect drawing , to just get an artistic feel of the space and time like a painters pleinair approach. That's my internal
