Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Midland.

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Midland Photography Group on Facebook to share your photos after the session.

Louis was very prepared for this event. He was very clear when he explained the method and required settings for each shot.

This is looking to the north towards Monahans with a combination of city light pollution, highway light pollution, a Godox V1S flash in a soft box and the stars of Texas. It is one of my Lightroom edits and taken with my Sony ILCE 6400, Sigma 16mm lens with light pollution filter at f1.8, 4secs, ISO 640

Title or Location: The Petroleum Building on N Texas Ave in Midland TX
The Petroleum Building is probably one of my favorites in the Permian basin. I've always gravitated towards this building and have an winter series on it on my Facebook account. I love any old large building, even more so when the light hits it just right.

    Title or Location: Odessa TC
This is an older building that reminds of peak 60s oilfield here in the basin. I like driving around Odessa an otherwise unassuming town and take shots of the old building that are still standing the test of time. This one Ive passed many times and didn't think much of it until we here driving around wasting a roll of film waiting on a bakery shoot, it was a gloomy day and kind of chilly. It just looked right thru the lens. I shot this on a Mintola SRT 101 with a 28mm lens! The film is Phoenix

This is a Catteleya hybrid I bought from Akatsuka Orchids in Volcano Hawaii. It wasn't developing a flower spike on this lead until after I repotted it into a clay pebble medium with a little coconut fiber, which I believe will be superior to either barky mix or Sphagnum. The flowers have a life span of 3 weeks and it is just about 5 days past that as you can see the dorsal sepal is turning brown. This was Sunday and I just got in my Sigma 56mm f/1.4 lens the day before after I sold my Sony 50mm

We have two young cats, they will be 1 year old in a month. This is Naomi, she loves to crawl under a blanket or coverlet and look out from there. And I always have the feeling of a meaningful human gaze. Taken with a Samsung 21s mobile phone.

In January 25, I went on my first safari. The wildlife we saw, exceeded my expectations. We tracked this leopard, knicknamed Tom, the tatty eared leopard, for several miles. Eventually he stopped for a rest on the branch of a tree, just a few hundred yards away from our truck. I took numerous shots, but felt that I had really connected with him in this shot. It felt as though he was looking directly into my eyes!
