Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Midland.

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Midland Photography Group on Facebook to share your photos after the session.

This is a Phalaenopsis orchids which is one of a ground growing in my kitchen window. The photo was saved with my Sony ILCE 6700 mirrorless camera by placing the subject in my new 24 inch light box. The lens used was the Tamron 70 -180 zoom set at 70mm at f/8 for depth of field, 1/125s, and ISO 400.

Title or Location: Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland Texas
I have been working at Midland Memorial Hospital for 3 years and had been hopeful that one day I could get a good capture of the helicopter landing or taking off. Last year I took out a personal loan to buy the Sony ILCE 6700 camera and then in December I started trying to find a place that had the Sigma 17-40mm Art DN zoom in stock. On December 27 the ai on my phone told me that B&H had them in stock then so I ordered one on the 28th, and received it on the 30th, a Tuesday, I decided to work on

This is a Phalaenopsis orchid growing in our kitchen window. There are LED grow lights to supplement the light. I bought the Sony ILCE 6700 about a week beforehand and used the a6400 before. I've been in Photography since 1974 when I bought my first 35mm SLR all manual camera from Sears. I was inspired by an elderly professional photographer I met who used an 8 by 10 view camera . With this photo I used my Sigma 56mm lens at F1 4 for shallow depth , 1/125s, and ISO 100 , with the camera in apert

This was my first attempt of capturing the Milky Way in 2026. The Milky way core became visible around 3am under a new moon. The low levels of light pollution enable me capture a high level of detail.

Title or Location: Lake Toblino, Italy
May 2013 ? after a day spent visiting some friends in the north of Italy, while driving home, I came across a small lake with a tiny island and a castle (Lake Toblino). What made everything even more magical was the mist rising from the water, especially considering it was a warm day. The scene felt almost unreal, as if it belonged somewhere much further north than Italy.I was at the very beginning of my photography journey, with so many things to learn (and still many today). I had just
